TutorKids Zoom Session Policy & Tutor Guide
Welcome to TutorKids! To ensure high-quality, consistent, and secure delivery of live classes, this guide outlines how tutors should use Zoom for their tutoring sessions. TutorKids currently operates a 1 Zoom Pro + 100+ Zoom Basic model. This means all tutors will deliver sessions using their free Zoom Basic accounts, with a 40-minute time limit per session.
· Most students are aged 3–12, and 40 minutes provides a focused segment for learning.
· Each lesson session must be a minimum of 1 hour. Tutors may take a 5-minute break within the first 40 minutes, after which students should be advised to reconnect using the same Zoom link to complete the full hour session.
· Shorter learning blocks with a brief break help reduce fatigue and maintain engagement
Step-by-step:
1. Create a free Zoom account at zoom.us/signup.
2. Use the same email you registered with on TutorKids.
3. Ensure your Zoom display name matches your TutorKids profile.
4. Download the Zoom app (desktop preferred, mobile optional).
Each tutor is responsible for scheduling their own lessons.
How to schedule a session:
1. Log into Zoom.
2. Click “Schedule a Meeting.”
3. Set the class time and date.
4. Use the same Zoom link for recurring students or generate a new one.
5. Share the link via TutorKids dashboard or parent messaging system.
· Inform parents/students beforehand that each lesson session is 1 hour despite Zoom Basic’s 40-minute limit.
· Begin promptly and use the first 40 minutes effectively.
· Tutors may take a 5-minute break before the Zoom limit ends (e.g., at 35 minutes) and ask students to rejoin using the same link to complete the remaining portion of the 1-hour session.
· This ensures continuity and meets TutorKids’ minimum time requirement

· Each lesson must be a minimum of 1 hour, even if it uses Zoom Basic.
· Tutors can plan a 5-minute break before 40 minutes ends, then resume the session with the same link.
· Make every minute count — structure your lesson with this timing in mind.
· As TutorKids grows, we will explore more tools to support this structure and welcome your feedback.
